In 1385, Everhome sent out a distress call for every elf available to defend the homeland from a massive drow raid. Kalenthor had been adventuring in the planes for a couple of decades and sold his soul for knowledge that he hoped would turn the tide in the struggle. Armed with this, he returned to Toril to aid his people.
During the conflict, an avatar of Lolth appeared and joined the battle. In the midst of combat, a shockwave of blue fire and shadow enveloped the entire battlefield, and Kalenthor felt his body ripped apart and thrown into a vortex. After what felt like a split second of eternity, he rematerialized and was ejected from the Tilverton Scar in the year 1479. His memories were fragmented, and he found that his talents had been lost in the vortex. He was aware that he knew something important, but he was also unable to piece it together.
The frustration of having gaps in his memory has driven Kalenthor to dive into a variety of tomes to try and find something that might trigger a remembrance. While doing so, he came across an entry regarding a group of adventurers called the Company of the Shield that frequented the Stonelands area over a hundred years ago, circa 1367 DR. The entry stated that they were spreading rumors about a chronomancer that was trying to destroy Cormyr while working for the Cult of the Dragon. The company managed to destroy the Cult’s base of operations, but left behind a temporal vortex that caused bubbles of time distortions that lasted two decades. With no better leads to follow, he made preparations to investigate the Stonelands.
